The Belgian technician and Ivorian coach Marc Wilmots is no longer the head coach of the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire, the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) announced on Wednesday in Abidjan.

The FIF said in a statement that the Federation and Wilmots “met Monday, November 13, 2017 in Abidjan, to take stock of the mission entrusted to him”.

“At the end of the discussions, the parties both committed to parting on amicable terms, while welcoming the good atmosphere that prevailed during six months of working together,” the statement signed by the FIF President, Augustin Sidy Diallo, said.

Wilmots was recruited in March 2017 for a renewable two-year contract that took effect on April 1, 2017, but the Belgian is leaving the bench of the Elephants without qualifying his side for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

He recorded 4 losses, 2 draws and 1 win in seven games.
