Nelson Mandela - Sport pays tribute to former South Africa president

Mandela has been described as the architect of the 2010 World Cup by FIFA president Sepp Blatter, and the head of the football world governing body was correct. 

"You are the true architect of this FIFA World Cup; your presence and commitment made it happen. Now the first African FIFA World Cup is reality," explained Blatter while handing over the trophy to Mandela at a press conference in 2010.

Stars in Europe - Australia - Transfer - Irankunda moves to Sporting Lisbon

Nestory Irankunda

Watford striker Nestory Irankunda has left after just one season at Vicarage Road to move to Lisbon to join Portuguese giants Sporting on what the Hornets describe as "a permanent deal".

The 20-year-old Australian international arrived in July 2025 from Bayern Munich.

But, after four goals in 44 appearances for Watford, he will move on to Sporting, subject to international clearance.

Irankunda also netted five times for the Socceroos last season, including their opening goal of the World Cup in a 2:0 win over Turkey to become Australia's youngest-ever scorer in the competition.
