Stars in Europe - Germany - Transfer - Adeyemi moved to Barcelona

Karim Adeyemi

Karim Adeyemi is swapping the Ruhr for Catalonia. Borussia Dortmund and FC Barcelona have agreed a transfer for the German forward, whose contract was set to expire next summer.

The Details

The move comes after Adeyemi himself approached BVB officials to express his desire for a new chapter.

Four years in black and yellow

Adeyemi arrived at BVB ahead of the 2022-23 season and leaves with a strong body of work: 98 Bundesliga appearances and 23 goals, 37 Champions League outings with 12 goals, six DFB-Pokal games and a goal, plus five appearances at the FIFA Club World Cup. He was a key figure in Dortmund's run to the 2023-24 Champions League final.

A warm farewell

Adeyemi struck an emotional tone in his own goodbye: "I'd like to thank Borussia Dortmund for four great years. To the club, my players, and the fans, who made every game special with their support. I wish BVB all the best for the future."

What's next

For Barcelona, Adeyemi brings pace, directness and Champions League pedigree to their attacking options. For Dortmund, it's the end of an era with one of their most electric performers of recent seasons, but a clean, respectful parting on both sides.
